Chireno A Tournament

Chireno High School is proud to continue the tradition of our UIL A tournament. This year that tournament will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022. As our tournament has grown, we have outgrown our campus, and thanks to Stephen F Austin State University, will host our meet at SFASU. We will also have a virtual option for non-speaking events.

Entries: Registration link: https://forms.gle/JW3cc2vmf7AJ5FsDA. Entries are due by Wednesday, January 5, 2022. Drops may be made without charge until 10am, Thursday, January 6. After that time, drops will result in the loss of entry fees. Note that no refunds will be issued. Please make sure checks are for correct amount or be prepared to donate the overage.

Judging & Grading Requirements: In order for the tournament to run smoothly, all schools must meet judging requirements or your students will not be allowed to participate. The only alternative will be for a school to pay a $100 fee for each uncovered judging assignment. We prefer to have the judges. NOTE: Judges/Graders should follow the Conflict Pattern also. For example: your interp judge cannot be a debate judge. Your CX judge can’t be your LD judge.
** Debate – one judge for every 2 entries in each event or part thereof (i.e. 3 entries – 2 judges)
** Individual speaking events – one judge for every 6 entries or part thereof
** Non-speaking events – one grader for every event entered
FEES:
* Academic & Individual Speaking Events – $8
* LD Debate – $15
* CX Debate – $25
* Missing judge fee – $100 (We really need qualified judges more than the money!)

Conflict Pattern: The conflict pattern will be used with CX being mixed in. Please check the schedule carefully to not enter students in conflicting events.

Poetry and Prose will be PERFORMER’S CHOICE, but they should plan to read opposite categories in the second round. Therefore both A & B should be prepared and ready for competition. No documentation checks!

Computer Science Programming will be offered if somemone enters that is willing to run it. Chireno DOES NOT have a computer science coach that can run programming.

No hospitality room will be provided. The SFA student center will have some options for eating as well as multiple restaurants in the Nacogdoches area.

If your business office needs a W-9, you can find that here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1N71OpsfLxn80N3ZFCd9JmJ3e-aQ9L0ra/view?usp=sharing

We look forward to a wonderful day of UIL Academics!
